ACS Mission Statement:
Animal Care Services is
dedicated to making San Antonio a city in which every animal receives
responsible care. Our 5 year Strategic Plan will help guide the community to
achieve a "No Kill' goal by 2012.
The City of San Antonio’s Animal Care Services joins the animal welfare movement and is committed to providing not only control but also care for the animals that are brought into the facility.
This commitment involves providing sanitary shelter for lost and stray animals, animal licensing, in some cases medical care, expanding vaccine protocols, and initiating programs to decrease the number of animals euthanized.
Highlighted to support this new approach are programs for:
Spay/neutering
Adoption Center that in its first year adopted out over 2,300 dogs and cats
Post adoption veterinary care
An education campaign focused on responsible pet ownership.
Animal Care Services Advisory Board
The Animal Care Services Advisory Board is composed of eleven (11) members appointed by the City Council for two-year terms. Meetings are held quarterly on the second Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the
The Training Facility located at 131 El Paso. Meeting duration is two to three hours.
