Although the purpose of animal code enforcement is focused upon rabies
prevention, reporting of animal bites is directly aimed at prevention of this
disease. Anyone having knowledge of an animal biting or scratching so as
to break the skin is required by Texas State Law to report the incident to the
local health authority.
This may be done in San Antonio by
calling: (210) 737-1600 Children should be cautioned to never
play with wild animals, especially skunks, bats, raccoons or unknown dogs and cats. If a
biting animal dies, you should call 737-1600.
