The Fall Art Festivals is an annual marketing initiative that capitalizes on, and invests in, established San Antonio festivals with diversified appeal. By developing creative partnerships between culture and travel industry professionals, and by fostering public/private partnerships to promote and support the partner festivals; the Fall Art Festivals' marketing and promotion programs deliver effective returns that greatly enhance San Antonio's cultural equity.

To be considered for the Fall Art Festivals roster, an individual festival must meet the following criteria:

  • Well established and promoted (a festival that is widely recognized and anticipated by its audience(s), and supported by consistent/successful promotional materials/activities)
  • A proven track record (minimum of three years successful programming)
  • A core organizational structure (an established coordinator or volunteer work force involved in putting on the festival each year)
  • Serve a well identified target audience (festival organizers know the demographics of their audiences)
  • A regional/national/international reputation (have word-of-mouth recognition beyond local audiences)
  • Inclusive, quality programming (performances are professional quality and accessible to all)
  • Collaborative, with broad community participation (involve other local cultural organizations in ancillary programming, exhibitions, etc.)
  • Provide a number of free activities and/or admission
  • Take place within a defined seasonal schedule from September through November

Fall Art Festivals current core partners are FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA, Jazz’SAlive, International Accordion Festival, Día de los Muertos, and New World Wine and Food Festival. To help facilitate the inclusion of more festivals, the Office of Cultural Affairs may list new events that show potential for meeting the set criteria, in the FAF web site section designated for Related Events. Once these events are able to meet all of the set criteria, they become eligible to be presented and promoted as a core partner in the Fall Art Festivals, if the necessary resources are available.
