The Office of Cultural Affairs provides financial support to San Antonio, non-profit arts and cultural organizations through it's Arts Funding Program in six grant categories.  The City's funding is an investment in arts and cultural activities that is leverage through matching funds raised by the organization from other private sources including foundation grants as well as individual and corporate sponsorships.
  • Operational Support: grants in this category support the various administrative and program activities and are intended to aid organizations of all sizes that nurture the development of art and culture that are uniquely San Antonio. Operational support grants are on a two year cycle.
  • Project Support: grants in this category support smaller specific projects that are not part of the on going operational function of an organization. Projects are funded on an annual basis.
  • Collaboration Program: provides avenues to merge audiences, create new markets, enrich arts/cultural environment for collaborations.
  • Incubator Program: provides assistance to emerging organizations and administrative infrastructure.
  • Stabilization Program: provides funds for professional services or new staff that will impact an agency's development.
  • Deferred Maintenance & Capital Projects Program:  Provides assistance to current Operational Support grant recipients to improve the condition, safety, success, accessibility, security, and/or energy efficiency of San Antonio ’s arts and cultural facilities. 
  • Technical Assistance: Arts organizations and/or individuals may apply for scholarship funds to attend developmental workshops presented by the Nonprofit Resource Center of Texas on topics designed to help them improve their operational skills in a variety of areas such as Board/Staff Development, Fundraising, Public Relations, Marketing and so on.
