San Antonio International Airport is located on the north side of San Antonio at the intersection of Interstate Highway Loop 410 and U.S. Highway 281.  It is approximately 15 minutes from the central business district as well as Interstate Highway 35 to the east and Interstate Highway 10 to the west. Click here to see a map

Weather
The average temperature in a 24-hour period in San Antonio ranges from 51 degrees in January to the mid-80s in the summer.  The normal annual rainfall is 31 inches and precipitation is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year.  San Antonio experiences 322 clear flying days a year.

Vital Statistics
The airport has two passenger terminals with a total of 24 passenger gates. 

The airport has two all-weather air carrier runways: (click to airfield map)

  • Runway 12R/30L: 8,502 feet long and 150 feet wide
  • Runway 3/21: 7,505 feet long and 150 feet wide
     

The airport also has one general aviation runway: 

  • Runway 12L/30R: 5,519 feet long and 100 feet wide 

The aircraft parking area covers 3,836,610 square feet, and it, along with proposed runway and taxiway upgrades, is under development for Master Plan expansion. 

In 2004, 3,498,189 passenger enplanements and 223,027 aircraft landings and take-offs were reported.   2004 passenger enplanements were up 7.6 percent over 2003.  For the same year, 264 million pounds of freight and cargo were handled at San Antonio International Airport.
