Terminal Expansion Program Contracting Schedule

The San Antonio International Airport has began the construction phase of the major terminal expansion project.

On December 14, 2000, City Council gave the approval to implement a terminal expansion project, which will add Terminal B (seven gates) to Terminal 1, remove Terminal 2 and construct a Terminal C (five gates and expandable up to eleven gates).  Portions of this project are currently under design by 3D/International or under construction.

Under the expansion, Terminal B will replace Terminal 2, which will be demolished to make room for Terminal C.  Terminal C will be constructed in phases, as passenger growth and demand for gate facilities occur.  The Terminal B project will involve extensive roadway expansion to meet new access needs and will include an extension of the Terminal 1 two-tier roadway system to accommodate traffic and passenger drop off and pick up at the new concourse. (This contract is anticipated for approval October 2006.)   Terminal 1 will be renamed Terminal A once Terminal B is completed.   The Terminal B Project is scheduled for completion in 2008.
