Have you been thinking
about trimming your
trees? Is it time to get rid of that old refrigerator or worn
out couch
taking up space in your garage? Whoa... before you start dumping items out on
your lawn, ask yourself, "Who is going to pick this stuff
up?"
Yes, the City collects
brush and bulky items. But every day is not brush collection day.
San Antonio residents receive two scheduled brush
collections each year, approximately every six months.
You will receive a
bright yellow door hanger on your front door the week before it's your turn to
place tree limbs, furniture, appliances or other items out for
collection. In a matter of days, these items will be picked up, helping you keep
not only your home but your neighborhood clean. It's that easy.
If you're not currently scheduled
for brush collection or can't place items out in time for your collection, the
City has a number of alternatives,
including Dial-A-Trailer
and House Calls,
available for
disposal of your items. Don't dump unless you have a plan for getting it
picked up!
Residents are asked to brush up on brush collection and follow a few simple steps to utilize this service and maintain a clean and
safe community. See below.

Brush and bulky waste
collection is provided to all residential waste-paying customers
of the City of San Antonio. Check your CPS Energy
bill. If it lists an Environmental Services Fee and a Brush Service Fee,
you are a customer of the City and you are eligible to receive brush
collection as well as other solid waste services provided by the City's Solid Waste Management
Department. |
Follow these three
simple steps to
utilize the brush program:
- Check your front door.
Has a yellow door hanger been placed on your front door? If
so, then it’s your
turn to have your brush and bulky items picked up. Brush collection service will begin in
your area on the upcoming Monday.
- Place your brush and bulky items at the curb.
Materials must be out by
7:00 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week. Your items may be collected
Monday or later that week. Help us by
placing brush separate from other acceptable materials.
- Crews will pass by your house once.
Materials placed out after crews have passed are a violation and
subject to fines up to $2000 a day.
If you miss your scheduled collection, call 311 as soon as possible to find other
disposal options.

notified by the City that brush collection will be in your area!
If brush
and other items are placed in your yard and you are not eligible for
brush collection, you are considered in violation and may receive a fine of up to $2000 plus be
billed for the collection and disposal of these items.
