Don't
throw it away! Recycle
as much as possible
Utilize the curbside recycling program. Put newspapers, jars and
bottles (labeled #1 through #7), aluminum, steel, tin cans, glass jars
(green, brown, clear), and aerosol cans in your green recycling bin or blue cart for
once-a-week collection (more items to recycle). You also can recycle tree cuttings at the
Bitters Road Brush Site, 1800 Bitters Road.
Bi-weekly manual garbage pickup and Automated once a week
Manual collection: Bushes and brush trimmings will be picked up if bundled and tied into
4-foot lengths and weigh less than 40 pounds. Automated collection: requires the placement of brush and
tree limbs within the container.
No household chemical products such as paint, cleansers or pool chemicals!
Two residential brush/bulky item collections per year
Wait until you receive your yellow door hanger.
Free Landfill Disposal Days (held quarterly in November, February,
April and July)
Get rid of trash, lumber, brush, remodeling debris, furniture,
appliances, mattresses, tires or other trash. No household hazardous
wastes.
Annual City-wide Cleanup Day in April
City trucks will be stationed at 20 locations across the city to
receive your bulky waste items.
Dial-a-Trailer
This
program allows neighborhood and non-profit organizations to schedule a City garbage
truck or trailer on a Saturday for a free neighborhood brush and bulky item
collection event. Call 311.
Personal, out-of-cycle brush and bulky items
collection
We make House
Calls. Call 311 to schedule an appointment for a free estimate on out-of-cycle brush and bulky
item collection by the City. A fee will be charged based on size of the
load.
Self-haul to area landfill
Call 311 for a listing of area landfills.
Hire/contract a company to haul materials to landfill
Call 311 for assistance.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, 7030 Culebra Road
Safely dispose of unused paint and paint products, pool chemicals,
pesticides, household cleansers and polishes, motor oil and other
automobile fluids, and similar items. Open Fridays from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.; and
Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (except certain holidays)

Drop-off brush trimmings for recycling
into mulch. Open seven days a week, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m. during daylight savings time) Residents will be charged the
following rates for disposal of brush at the brush site:

20 lbs. or
less = $0.25

> 20 lbs.
to 2,000 lbs. = $0.235 per each 20 lbs.

2,000 lbs.
or greater = $23.50 per each additional 20 lb. increment.
Non-residents and commercial customers
will pay different rates for disposal of brush. See the
Environmental Services website for more information on the Bitters
Road Brush Site.
Neighborhood sweeps
City crews target neighborhoods with two weeks of City services that
include brush pickup. These neighborhoods are picked by City Council
offices and scheduled months in advance.
