Neighborhood, Community, Perimeter and Sector Plans
- The City of San Antonio is in the process of initiating the Central Sector Area Plan, and once adopted becomes a component of the City’s Master Plan. The Comprehensive Master Plan includes geographic specific plans such as Sector Plans and Neighborhood Plans. It also includes functional plans such as the Major Thoroughfare Plan, Parks and Recreation Plan, Strategic Historic Preservation Plan, and a Library Plan. Sector plans are intended to not only support the policies of the adopted Master Plan, but to provide appropriate guidance for land use, transportation, and public facilities planning efforts in each of the City’s five sector areas. Studies
- The City of San Antonio, in cooperation with the San Antonio Downtown Alliance and other stakeholders, undertook a process of reinvention and redesign for its downtown management, development, and revitalization program. This process has produced an action plan and organizational model that utilizes the best practices of downtown organizations like those in Denver, Kalamazoo and Philadelphia, but which goes beyond those models to create what may be, if successfully implemented, a new model other cities may seek to copy for years to come.
