He was
for his own people a Moses figure. The farm workers who labored in the
fields and yearned for respect and self-sufficiency pinned their hopes
on this remarkable man, who, with faith and discipline, with soft-spoken
humility and amazing inner strength, led a very courageous life. And
in so doing, brought dignity to the lives of so many others, and
provided for us inspiration for the rest of our nation's history.
--President
Bill Clinton said of Cesar Chavez as he was posthumously awarded the
1994 Presedential Medal of Freedom.

March 2009 marks the 43rd anniversary of
Cesar Chavez' historic 350-mile pilgrimage from Delano to Sacramento, which drew
national attention to the plight of farm workers in America. To honor this
anniversary and to educate and energize people with the power of civic
engagement, we invite you to join us for several events commemorating Cesar
Chavez.
