History
Established from the Charter Amendment Referendum in November 2001, the City Auditor plays a vital role in the missions of the City of San Antonio. The Office is an integral part of the City’s internal accounting and administrative control system and fulfills its responsibilities primarily by conducting financial, compliance, and performance audits. The City Auditor reports directly to the Mayor and City Council through the Audit Committee. City Council passed Ordinance 2008-11-20-1015 on November 20, 2008 that clarifies more fully the role of the City Auditor. The Office follows generally accepted government auditing standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States in the performance of all applicable audit projects.
