Accomplishments with the City of San Antonio

2011

2011 - Received recognition in the San Antonio Express News for government transparency with city records. See Article.

2011 - Discovered the original City Surveyor Book One (December 7, 1847 - February 14, 1882) containing the 1849 Alamo Plat.

2011 - Completed digital conversion of 456 Aperture Cards containing various Gustav Freisleben Maps dated 1840-1850.

2011 - Added over 1,362 Truehart Maps dated 1899 - 1901 to the Municipal Archives Digital Collection.

2011 - Added over 4,500 documents to a new Elections Collection dating 1856 to the present.

2011 - Added over 44,500 documents to the Municipal Archives & Records Digital Collections Web-site.

2011 - Made short list of three (3) cities to host the 2015 International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) Annual Conference.

2011 - Chaired the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas (HWNT) Scholarship committee of the San Antonio Chapter, awarding over $23,500 in Scholarships.

2011 - After first year of being a designated Passport Acceptance Facility, office generated $179,952.50 in new revenue to the City of San Antonio.

2011 - Completed Post Graduate Recertification for the years 2010-2015 from the University of North Texas-Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program.



2010

2010 - Added over 67,000 documents to the Municipal Archives & Records Digital Collections Web-site.

2010 - Unveiled New Municipal Archives and Records Web-site for Digitization Projects that include 1770-1823 San Fernando de Bexar Minutes, 1876-1937 San Antonio Election Results.

2010 - In Collaboration with ITSD, established an Administrative Directive for Electronic Signatures and Records.

2010 - Secured designation for the Office of the City Clerk as a Passport Acceptance Facility and created new revenue from the Passport Application Service.

2010 - Applied for an Archival Grant for the City Engineer’s Historical Plats Project through the National Endowment for the Humanities.

2010 - Chaired the Hispanic Women Network of Texas Scholarship Fundraiser for the San Antonio Chapter awarding $17,500 in Scholarships.

2010 - Implemented electronic submission of Financial Disclosure Report's for City Board Members and City Officials saving over 2,500 documents from being filed manually.

2010 - Submitted bid to host 2015 International Institute of Munipal Clerks (IIMC) Annual Conference in San Antonio.



2009

2009 - Applied for the continuation of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission Grant to continue the city archival and historical records initiative.

2009 - Received the "2009 Texas Municipal Clerk of the Year" Award from the State of Texas Municipal Clerks, Inc.

2009 - Applied for the continuation of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission Grant to continue the city archival and historical records initiative.

2009 - Chaired the Hispanic Women Network of Texas Scholarship Fundraiser for the San Antonio Chapter awarding $22,000 in Scholarships.

2009 - Created Online Archives of City Engineering Plats dated 1884-1901 and City Block Tax Maps dated 1920-1990 for internal and public access.

2009 - Received second year grant in the amount of $52,000 to continue the city archival and historical records initiative.

2009 - Received the "Municipal Clerk of the Year" Award from The Alamo Chapter of City Clerk's.

2009 - Collaborated with Information Technology Services Department(ITSD) to develop and implement a Policy for Electronic Signatures and Electronic Records.

2009 - Chaired first annual Alamo Chapter of City Clerk's Scholarship Committee in honor of Norma S. Rodriquez.



2008

2008 - Chaired the Hispanic Women Network of Texas Scholarship Fundraiser for the San Antonio Chapter awarding $10,000 in Scholarships.

2008 - Collaborated with the City of Dallas City Clerk who purchased San Antonio’s home grown Web-based On-Line Campaign Finance Reporting System for candidates and officeholders.

2008 - First Online Archives Collections of Finding Aids created for public access.

2008 - Received 2008 City of San Antonio's Customer Service Excellence Award.

2008 - Applied for the continuation of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission Grant to continue the city archival and historical records initiative.



2007

2007 - Envisioned and hired the city's first Archivist for the purpose of archiving historical city documents and creating finding aids.

2007 - Received a Grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in the amount of $98,000 for the preservation and maintenance of historic records.

2007 - Implemented and jointly designed software for a new Touch Screen Voting System for the Council Chambers that records every vote of the Mayor and City Council.

2007 - Secured the Texas Municipal Clerk's Graduate Institute Conference to be held in San Antonio in 2008.



2006

2006 - Budgeted and purchased Regular Storage Shelving for the 2nd warehouse at the Municipal Records Facility to bring in the last of city records stored at private storage facilities.

2006 - Drafted and Implemented an Administrative Directive in conjunction with ITSD for all employees regarding Electronic Records Management.

2006 - Received a Grant from the Alamo Council of Governments in the amount of $48,100 for a New Industrial Shredder for the Municipal Records Facility.

2006 - Invested in a "Going Green Environment" and received a Grant from the Alamo Council of Governments in the amount of $32,800 for a New Compactor for the Municipal Records Facility (utilized in conjunction with two shredders to save approximately 8 tons of paper material from going into the landfill on a monthly basis).

2006 - Completed Recertification through the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program at the University of North Texas.

2006 - Received the 2006 Corporate Award for La Prensa's Annual Salute to Women in Action.

2006 - Implemented a meaningful naming convention for City Ordinances that identify the date ordinance was adopted.



2005

2005 - Realized a $350,000 savings by utilizing paper ballots for the run-off election.

2005 - Purchased Roller Storage Shelving utilizing remaining Bond Funds for the Municipal Records Facility to bring in city records otherwise stored at private storage facilities.

2005 - Increased transparency by implementing an On-line Campaign Finance Reporting System for candidates and officeholders. Only city in the State of Texas to achieve searchable electronic reporting. Received the City of San Antonio’s Five Star Award in 2006 based on performance metrics.

2005 - Upgraded all outdated computer technology hardware and software for all users by Budgeting Funds.

2005 - Named as 2005 Honorary Chair of the 19th Annual Hispanic Women's Network of Texas State Converence.



2004

2004 - Utilized the City's GIS technology to plot over 300 polling sites for Election Day and Early Voting sites from a manual labor intensive process.

2004 - Implemented an On-Line Application process for Board/Commission applicants.

2004 - Implemented use of E-Calendar invite, trained staff on same and initiated monthly departmental staff meetings.
