Accomplishments with the City of San Antonio


2009 - Chaired the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas - San Antonio Chapter's Scholarship Breakfast Committee, where $20,000 were raised and awarded in scholarships.

2009 - Chairing the first annual Alamo Chapter of City Clerk's Scholarship Committee in honor of Norma S. Rodriguez.

2009 - Jointly worked with Information Technology Services Department (ITSD) staff to develop and implement a Policy for Electronic Signatures and Electronic Records.

2009 - The Alamo Chapter of City Clerk's named Leticia Vacek "Municipal Clerk of the Year."

2009 - Received a second year grant in the amount of $52,000 to continue the city archival and historical records initiative.

2008 - Chaired the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas - San Antonio Chapter's Scholarship Breakfast Committee, where $10,000 were raised and awarded in scholarships.

2008 - Applied for the continuation of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission Grant to continue the city archival and historical records initiative.

2008 - Partnered with the City of Dallas to assist in implementing our web-based online electronic campaign finance report filing system which was developed by the Office of the City Clerk in conjunction with the City's Information Technology Services Department. The system provides the City of Dallas to join San Antonio as now, the only two cities in the state to implement an online municipal campaign finance electronic filing system developed by San Antonio.

2007 - Secured the Texas Municipal Clerk's Graduate Institute to be held in San Antonio in October, 2009.

2007 - Implemented a Touch Screen Electronic Voting System utilized by the City Council.

2007 - Received a Grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in the amount of $98,000 for the preservation and maintenance of historic records.

2007 - Envisioned and hired the city's first Archivist for the purpose of archiving historical city documents and finding aids.

2006 - Completed 3rd Recertification through the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program at the University of North Texas.

2006 - Received grants from the Alamo Council of Governments in the amount of $48,100 for a new industrial shredder and $32,800 for a new compactor to be used in conjunction with the shredder, at the Municipal Records Facility, to divert approximately 8 tons of recyclable material monthly from the landfill to the city's recycling program.

2006 - Drafted and Implemented an Administrative Directive for all employees regarding Electronic Records Management.

2006 - Budgeted and purchased Regular Shelving for the Municipal Records Facility to bring in records otherwise stored at public storage facilities.

2005 - Budgeted and purchased Roller Storage Shelving for the Municipal Records Facility to bring in city records otherwise stored at public storage facilities providing for a cost-savings to the city.

2005 - Implemented an On-line Campaign Finance Reporting System for candidates and officeholders. Only city in the State of Texas to achieve electronic reporting that is searchable. Received the City's Five Star Award in 2006 after its success was monitored.

2005 - Savings of $350,000 was realized by utilizing paper ballots for the run-off election.

2004 - Implemented an On-Line Application process for Board/Commission applicants.

2004 - Implemented the use of GIS Technology to plot over 300 polling sites.
