Session to teach prospective candidates for municipal office about laws, regulations governing municipal campaigns

Citizens who may want to run for municipal office one day are invited to participate in a candidate training workshop on Friday, August 18, at 11:00 a.m. at the Development and Business Services Center, Training Room A, located at 1901 S. Alamo.

The two-hour session is designed to help citizens learn about the laws and regulations that govern running for municipal office, including political advertising, contribution and expenditure reports, campaign finance regulations and other legal issues. Training also will be provided on the City’s electronic campaign finance filing system.

The free session will be presented by representatives from the Texas Ethics Commission, the Office of the City Attorney and the Office of the City Clerk.
