WHAT: Swearing-in Ceremony for 2009-2011 Mayor and City Council

WHEN: Friday, June 19 6:00 p.m.

WHERE: City Council Chamber

WHO: Mayor and City Councilmembers

MORE: Friday’s event marks the ceremonial swearing in of the 2009-2011 Mayor and City Council. The program will include remarks from the Mayor and each Councilmember.

Media can begin setting up at 4:00 p.m. All media must be set up in the designated media area behind the Council dais by 5:15 p.m. Only video and still photographers will be allowed in the media area. Media will not be allowed to roam the chamber or be allowed in the mezzanine area of the chamber during the ceremony. Only City photographers will be allowed to take pictures from the floor of the chamber.

Audio feed inputs are limited in the media area. Television and radio media are advised to have a wireless microphone available in order to utilize extra audio inputs located across the chamber.

Following the ceremony, media will have the opportunity to interview Councilmembers individually in a designated location of the Council Chamber. City public information officers will assist the media who request interviews with Councilmembers.

The 2009-2011 City Council includes a new Mayor, five new Councilmembers (Districts 2, 5, 6, 8, & 9) and five Councilmembers (1, 3, 4, 7, & 10) who each have served one term.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on TVSA, Cable Channel 21—the City’s government access channel; Grande Cable channel 20; AT&T U-verse channel 99 and on the City’s website at www.sanantonio.gov.
