The City of San Antonio is seeking applicants to fill the unexpired Council terms for City Council Districts 3 and 9. Interested individuals can obtain an application in the Office of the City Clerk, located on the second floor of City Hall between the hours of 7:45 am and 4:30 pm. Completed applications will be accepted from Friday, December 21

Citizens are encouraged to get involved in local government. The City of San Antonio is seeking applicants for the following At-Large Boards and Commissions:

Riverwalk Capital Improvements Advisory Committee: 3 slots (Categories: 1 Riverbend Lessee; 1 Business Owner-Not a Riverwalk Lessee; 1 Downtown Resident-Not a Lessee)
Metropolitan Transit Authority (VIA): 2 slots, no categories
Advisory Board of Health of the Metropolitan Health District: 8 slots (Categories: 2 Physicians; 1 Nurses Association; 1 AIDS Service Organization [Service Provider]; 1 At-Large/Hospital Services/Administration; 1 Dentist;
1 Veterinarian; 1 At-Large Member)
Citizens may apply online at www.sanantonio.gov/clerk or may obtain an application from the Office of the City Clerk, located on the second floor of City Hall. Completed applications can also be mailed or faxed (207-6938) to the Office of the City

Citizens encouraged to apply for Municipal Civil Service Commissioner -

The City of San Antonio is recruiting for a citizen interested in serving the public as a Municipal Civil Service Commissioner. The selected individual will be appointed by City Council and must be available to serve an initial two-year term.

San Antonio residents are encouraged to get involved in local government by serving on a City board or commission. Applications are being accepted now for the following at-large boards and commissions:

• Planning Commission: four slots, no categories

The City of San Antonio is seeking applications for individuals interested in filling vacancies on the Empowerment Zone Governance Board (EZGB).
 
 
  08/21/2007 City seeking applications for Citizen Advisory Action Board
 
Applicants are being sought for the Citizen Advisory Action Board. This Board hears disciplinary cases brought forward from complaints against members of the San Antonio Police Department. This procedure applies only to administrative investigations of misconduct by police officers.
 
 
  07/31/2007 New San Antonio Archives Program Preserves City’s History
 

First ever City Archivist creating possible future model for municipal governments

Historical records, aerial photographs of the city, a mayoral collection and other valuable items can be found in the City’s first ever San Antonio Archives Program. The program, envisioned to possibly become a model for other municipal governments, is intended to preserve the City’s historical findings.

 
 
  06/21/2007 City’s Youth Commission in Search of New Members
 

City Council now accepting applications from interested high school students

High school students who can envision themselves contributing to a team by addressing issues and developing solutions for challenges affecting young people are encouraged to apply for a position on the City of San Antonio’s Youth Commission. The City Council is now accepting applications to fill as many as 13 open positions on the commission.

 
 
  05/31/2007 Early voting for June 12th City Run-off Election begins June 2nd
 

Early voting for the June 12th City of San Antonio Run-off Election for Districts 5 and 8 begins Saturday, June 2, 2007.

Early voting sites are located at the Bexar County Courthouse and four other locations. Voting hours vary depending on date.

Early voting will end on Friday, June 8th.

  05/24/2007 S.A. Youth Commission to Honor Youth Volunteer of the Year
 

Five youth who serve their community to be recognized on June 3

Young people who serve and make a difference in our community will be honored for their selfless acts by a group of their peers. The San Antonio Youth Commission will hold its first ever Youth Volunteer of the Year Awards Ceremony on Sunday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the City Hall Media Briefing Center.

 
 
  04/25/2007 Early voting for May 12th City Election begins April 30th
 

Early voting for the May 12th City of San Antonio General and Special Election begins Monday, April 30, 2007. Early voting sites are located at the Bexar County Courthouse and 42 other locations. Voting hours vary depending on date and location.

Early voting will end on Tuesday, May 8th.

 
 
  04/10/2007 Main Plaza Redevelopment Project Update
 

Drivers advised of short-term, temporary closure

As crews continue to make progress on infrastructure improvements that are an essential component of the Main Plaza Redevelopment Project, the block of Dolorosa Street in front of the Bexar County Courthouse from S. Main to Main Plaza/Dwyer streets will be completely closed to traffic beginning today until Tuesday, April 17.

Drivers are advised to detour north or south on S. Flores Street as they are traveling east on Dolorosa to avoid the temporary closure.

San Antonio residents are encouraged to get involved in their local government by serving on a City board or commission.

Applications are being sought for seats on a variety of At-Large and District boards and commissions. Citizens who wish to apply for these seats may obtain an application from the Office of the City Clerk, located on the second floor of City Hall, or on the City’s website at www.sanantonio.gov/clerk.

 
 
  03/21/2007 Applications Sought for the San Antonio Municipal Golf Association (SAMGA)
 

Deadline to apply is Friday, March 30

Applications are being sought for the San Antonio Municipal Golf Association (SAMGA) board. The SAMGA is a new Texas non-profit corporation which will be entering into a contract to manage and operate the City of San Antonio golf courses. The mission of SAMGA is to provide the best quality of municipal golf to citizens at an affordable rate, to provide municipal golf as a City amenity available to citizens and visitors, and encourage senior play as well as promote junior golf.

 
 
  03/07/2007 Last day for City Council candidates to file is March 12, 2007
 
The last day for a candidate to file for a place on the ballot for the May 12, 2007 City Council Election is Monday, March 12, 2007. Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. in the Office of the City Clerk, located on the second floor of City Hall.
 
 
  02/15/2007 City unanimously calls for $550 million bond election
 
City Council today unanimously passed an ordinance calling for a $550 million bond election to be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007. The program focuses on basic infrastructure improvements and enhancements including streets, sidewalks, drainage, parks, athletic facilities and libraries.

City Council has scheduled an emergency meeting today for consideration and action concerning the Helotes mulch fire. The meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber.
 
 
  02/08/2007 First day for City Council candidates to file is February 12
 

The first day to file as a candidate for the May 12, 2007 City Council Election is Monday, February 12, 2007. Applications will be accepted through March 12, 2007 in the Office of the City Clerk, located on the second floor of City Hall.

Write-in candidates can submit an application for a place on the ballot between Monday, Feb 12, 2007 and Monday, March 19, 2007.

 
 
  01/25/2007 City Clerk appoints first Archivist
 
The City of San Antonio has appointed Amanda Carvell as the City Archivist. In her role, Carvell will work to identify the City’s Historic Records and will preserve, protect, restore and create finding aids to make the records available to citizens, historians and educators.
 
 
  01/11/2007 Applications Sought for Citizen Advisory Action Board
 
Applicants are being sought for the Citizen Advisory Action Board. The Board hears disciplinary cases that are brought forward by a complainant against a police officer. This procedure applies only to non-criminal investigations of misconduct by employees.
