Through combined
federal (Community Services Block Grant), utility (CPS Energy and SAWS), and
general fund dollars, the Department of Community Initiatives, Basic Needs
office provides emergency assistance and case management to families of San
Antonio and Bexar County. Assistance is provided one time in a 12 month period.
Standard Requirements for
all program assistance:

Meet income
eligibility of 125% or below of Federal Poverty Level.

Must meet one of
the following priority categories:
o
Senior 60 years
of age and older.
o
Documented
Disabled.
o
Families with
children 3 years of age or younger.
o
Registered
Critical Care Customers with CPS.
Services provided by
Basic Needs include :

Emergency Rental Assistance

This service assists individuals or families who have received a late
notice or an eviction notice.

San Antonio Water Systems (SAWS) Program

The City of San Antonio and SAWS jointly administer Project Agua.
Project Agua is available to assist qualifying ratepayers restore SAWS
services or prevent imminent disconnection from SAWS services.

CPS Energy (CPS) Programs
- The Winter Assistance Relief Mobilization (WARM) and Residential Energy
Assistance Programs (REAP) are designed to assist CPS Energy customers
in San Antonio and Bexar County with a maximum assistance of $150.

Reimbursement Program ( $24 credit )
