HOMELESS  CHILD  CARE

The Seamless Child Care Program is a partnership between the DCI Homeless Division and Child Care Services Division that serves families residing in transitional housing for the homeless.  Child care services are available to these families enable them to work, receive training or attend school in their effort to become self sufficient.  Eligibility criteria include:

  • Residence in Transitional Housing (not a shelter or Section 8)

  • Working with an assigned caseworker to help meet their needs

  • Referral through assigned caseworker for child care

EMERGENCY  CHILD  CARE

“Our City Cares” funding is allocated by City Council to assist San Antonio residents with short term child care during an emergency or extenuating circumstance. 

The four criteria of eligibility are:       

  • Circumstances such as, but not limited to, fire, family violence, natural disaster or emergency / medical need 

  •  Be a battered and/or substance abuse client in a rehabilitation program with a counselor

  • Be homeless and trying to gain self-sufficiency with the assistance of a counselor

  • Be guardians of children without parents (death, abandonment or imprisoned).
