John G. Clamp and City SealCouncilman John G. Clamp is married and the proud father of four children. His wife, Cindy, is a teacher in the Fort Sam Houston Independent School District. As a long time resident of District 10, he is happy to continue serving the northeast part of our city.

Councilman Clamp earned his MBA and BBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1997 and 1987, respectively. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1990. Councilman Clamp is also a Licensed Real Estate and Mortgage Broker in the State of Texas and holds the Project Management Professional designation (PMP).

Councilman Clamp's current City Council Appointments:

  • Chair, Public Safety Committee
  • Economic & Community Development
  • Vice Chair, Metropolitan Planning Organization
  • Lone Star Rail District
  • San Antonio Mobility Coalition
  • City Council Liaison to the Sports Foundation / Alamo Bowl / Sports Hall of Fame
  • Ex-Officio member of the Board of Directors of the greater San Antonio Film Council

During his first term, Councilman Clamp and his fellow council members were able to accomplish many projects. The following are just a few of the achievements they made together:

  • Addition of 230 police officers and 122 fire/EMS positions across the city
  • Added the honorary name addition "TAPS MEMORIAL BLVD" to Harry Wurzbach Road; a tribute to those interred at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery
  • Opened the Northeast Multi-Service Senior Center at 7355 Center Gate Drive
  • Secured land for a future permanent senior center site
  • Buried power lines from the CPS Exeter Station under Austin Highway to help improve the aesthetics of the area
  • Household Hazardous Waste location at the Bitters Brush Site

Councilman Clamp still has many goals he would like to achieve during his current term. Among those are:

  • A number of infrastructure improvements in District 10
  • Quiet zones
  • Economic development efforts along Perrin Beitel Road and TAPS Memorial Blvd.
  • Property tax reductions and appraisal reform
