Animal Care Services breaks historic live release record again
On the heels of a year of steadily increasing adoption rates and enhanced teamwork with placement partners, Animal Care Services has set another incredible lifesaving record with an anticipated overall live release rate of 83 percent for the month of January 2013. In comparison, ACS achieved an overall placement rate of 65 percent in January of last year. The shelter’s success stems, in part, from a dedicated focus to the departmental priorities outlined in the Animal Care Services Strategic Plan, a road map for increasing placements, enhancing enforcement and encouraging spay/neuter. The shelter’s current lifesaving rate puts ACS ahead of the plan’s 70 percent baseline goal. In order to continue the momentum and push the no kill goal higher, would-be pet owners are encouraged to adopt from a local shelter or rescue.
