As part of
Inspections Section
of the DSD
Building Development Division, the Electrical Inspections Team is focused on refining a combination of traits and associated technical training and experience that serve to qualify us in the profession of electrical inspection.
Our commitment is to provide an electrical inspection that is professional in both conduct and performance. We feel that this commitment is vital to protecting our citizens from hazards arising from the installation and use of electricity.
The electrical inspections supervisor is responsible for staff's quality performance on a number of key functions and processes within DSD on behalf of our community. Our primary responsibility is to review electrical installations for compliance with adopted codes such as Chapter 10 of City Code and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Additional key functions of our team include:

Regulating electricians and electrical construction within the City of San Antonio by issuing violation notices and creating court cases as needed.

Serving as the primary points of contact for customers and contractors questions regarding electrical
installations.

Investigating customer complaints of unsafe electrical installations and conditions.

Coordinating with CPS Energy for release of electrical service
and other electrical issues which may require authorization from DSD.

Keeping informed on new code changes and technologies
and working with the electrical industry in implementing them
effectively.
