Electrical Board
The Board is composed of eleven members as follows: one general contractor; one practicing professional engineer; two practicing master electricians; two journeyman electricians; one homebuilder; one practicing master sign electrician; and three laymen/consumers. Members are appointed by the City Council for two-year terms.
The Board’s primary function is to serve as an appeals and advisory board concerning matters dealing with Chapter 10 of the City Code and the National Electrical Code. The board is responsible for hearing appeals concerning interpretations made by the director, chief electrical inspector, or subordinates regarding the electrical code. Meetings are held once a month on the second Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. at the Development and Business Services Center Board Room 1st Floor, 1901 South Alamo. Meeting duration is usually one to two hours and is conducted in accordance with open meetings act.
