Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is an organized collection of computer hardware, software, geographic data, and personnel designed to efficiently capture, store, update, manipulate, analyze, and display all forms of geographically referenced information often in form of maps. The  Development Services Department’s GIS Division works as a guiding and directing partner within Development Services to support the geographic information needs of the City of San Antonio. We research, develop, provide, maintain, improve, and own the Parcel, Zoning, and Address data layers. We are responsible for all address assignments within the City of San Antonio and all legal description assignments within the City of San Antonio and its Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). Other functions of the GIS Division include:

  • Mapping support for the Board of Adjustment
  • Mapping support for the Zoning Commission
  • Coordinating street name change requests
  • Special projects
