Mechanical Board of Appeals


The Mechanical Board of Appeals is comprised of eleven appointive members of the City Council who reside in the City. Membership includes one licensed mechanical contractor, two licensed mechanical technicians, two professional engineers, one commercial refrigeration contractor, one manufacturer's representative or distributor of refrigeration, heating, or air-conditioning equipment, one licensed architect and three laypersons. Members serve staggered two-year terms.

The Board determines the suitability of alternate materials and methods of installation, and provides for reasonable interpretations of the Mechanical Code. The Board hears all appeals from decisions of the Director of Development Services in respect to the construction, application, and enforcement of the Code. Meetings are held quarterly on the first Wednesday of the month at 9:00 A.M., in the Development and Business Services Center Board Room 1st Floor, 1901 South Alamo. Meeting duration is usually one to one a half hours.
