Planning Commission


The Planning Commission is a nine-member citizen panel appointed by the City Council to advise and assist the Council with long-range planning issues.

Authority:  
The Planning Commission is an advisory body established by the City Charter. The Commission makes  
 recommendations to the City Council.

Specific Duties:
The Planning Commission reviews and considers the following:

i  Planned Unit Development
i  Subdivision

The Planning Commission reviews and makes recommendations on the following:

i   Neighborhood Plans
i   Annexation Plans
i   Amendments to the Comprehensive Plan 
i   Amendments to the Unified Development Code 
i   Capital Improvements Program (CIP)

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

i   Become informed by attending a Planning Commission meeting which are typically held the second and fourth 
       Wednesday of the month, 2 p.m. Cliff Morton Development and Business Services Center, 1901 South Alamo Street in the   
       Board Room. (View schedule)

i   Sign up to speak at a Planning Commission meeting during Citizens’ to be heard (for items not on the agenda) or during
       discussion of an agenda item. Please note that citizens are limited to three minutes each.

i   Contact a member of the Planning Commission to express your viewpoint on an issue under Commission
        review.
