Welcome to the City of San Antonio's Sign Section.
San Antonio's quality of life although often difficult to define, is possibly the city's most valuable resource.
Chapter 28 our city's Sign and Billboard ordinance constantly strives to meet this goal. As such, it has inevitably, and properly, led to some forms of compromise. In arriving at these compromises, every possible consideration has been afforded to the public interest, individual property and business rights, and the need for signs and outdoor advertising. Chapter 28 was enacted to provide minimum standards to protect the life, health, safety, property, welfare, convenience and enjoyment of the general public by regulating and controlling the design, quality of materials, construction, erection, location, electrification, lighting, use, and maintenance of all advertising signs and sign structures within the city limits and its ETJ (extra territorial jurisdiction) which goes up to 5 miles outside city limits. We also enforce the NEC (National Electrical Code) and
chapter 10 our city's electrical code and its amendments.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to call.
