The Parking Enforcement Section is responsible
for enforcing on-street parking regulations in the downtown Central
Business District. This section consists of: (12) Parking Enforcement
Officers, (1) Supervisor, and (1) Senior Administrative Clerk.
The officers annually issue 85,000 parking violations and immobilize 600 vehicles.
The enforcement section is also responsible for implementing
and administering several decal parking programs. These are: the
Commercial Decal, Residential Decal,
and Event Decal Parking Programs.
The enforcement officers patrol their assigned districts
by use of small trucks or mountain bicycles. Officers
patrolling his/her assigned area by use of bicycle must successfully
complete a bike patrol training course conducted
by the San Antonio Police Department.
The bicycle patrols have had a profound impact on
the Section's ability to cover the CBD in an efficient manner.
The bicycles are cost effective and most important, ozone friendly.
