BRAC 2005
Challenges & Opportunities
for San Antonio
The military is an important part of the community employing over
89,000 and providing a $5.2 billion economic impact to San Antonio.
The Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) actions for 2005 will
significantly increase the military’s impact in the community.
These BRAC changes will present opportunities and challenges for the
community with respect to neighborhood planning, transportation,
health care delivery and our economy.
Purpose
To
inform the community about BRAC actions and their potential impact
on San Antonio, and to engage the community to identify issues and
develop solutions to the challenges and opportunities posed by
BRAC-related growth for further study in the Office of Military
Transformation’s Growth Management Plan.
