INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS

San Antonio’s information technology and telecommunications industry is comprised of four major producer segments: software and hardware for information and systems security; software engineering; communications; and E-Commerce.

San Antonio is a leader in the rapidly emerging field of information security with assets that include: the Defense Department’s Center of Excellence for Information Security, UTSA's Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS)--a national center of excellence in information technology security; and private sector firms specializing in this area.

This cluster is dynamic and constantly changing as new enterprises are formed, asserting a greater role in the region. The City of San Antonio and other community partners  support organizations like the San Antonio Technology Accelerator Initiative that assist companies attract venture capital infusions with a very high success rate. Additionally, San Antonio is producing industry career entrants with early and excellent training through the Information Technology Security Academies (ITSA) and Alamo WorkSource.
