Edwards scenic

Voters approved the Edwards Aquifer Protection initiative in May 2005 to establish a watershed preservation project that protects water in the Edwards Aquifer. Through a 1/8-of-a-cent sales tax, the City is collecting $90 million to acquire and preserve land or land interests in the aquifer’s recharge and contributing zones inside and outside Bexar County. Through the use of conservation easements, these properties will be removed from dense urban development. Properties acquired in fee-simple will be turned into natural areas for hiking and nature appreciation and will become distinctive pieces of San Antonio’s municipal park system.   MORE...
