Homeland Secuirty Grants Received, Fiscal Years (FY) 2003 to 2007

Since 2003, the City of San Antonio has received over $20 million in Homeland Security grant funds.  These funds have been used to increase local and regional response capabilities to prepare for, respond to and recover from both natural and man-made disasters.

State Homeland Security Program (SHSP), FY04-07

The SHSP grant provides funds to build local capabilities through planning, equipment, and training and exercise activities in accordance with the goals and objectives included in the State Homeland Security Strategies and the initiatives in the Program and Capability Enhancement Plan.

Urban Area Security Initiatives (UASI), FY04- 07

The UASI grant provides funding to assistance first responders in high-threat, high density Urban areas in addressing multi-discipline planning, operations, equipment, training and exercise needs and focuses on regional preparedness efforts.

Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG), FY03-07

EMPG funds assist local governments in developing and implementing emergency management programs such as planning, training, and exercises through staffing, equipment and supplies.

Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS), FY03-07

The MMRS creates connections between emergency responders, medical treatment resources, public health departments, emergency management offices, and volunteer organizations to reduce mortality and morbidity that could result from a mass casualty event.  MMRS grant funds provide training, exercises, planning, equipment and pharmaceuticals to develop and sustain the capabilities necessary to respond to a mass casualty event during the first hours of the event until such time that external assistance can arrive.

Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program (LETPP), FY04-07

LETPP focuses on providing law enforcement and public safety entities with the resources necessary to support terrorism prevention.
