The City of San Antonio's Animal Care Services (ACS) Department is urging residents to avoid wildlife and ensure their pets are vaccinated for rabies. The warning comes after a recent rabies case involving a bat at a local school.
Halloween is traditionally a family-oriented holiday and many people like to include their pets in the festivities. But good intentions can go bad if you don’t keep in mind the many dangers pets can face during the month of October.
With less than a month of competition to go, Animal Care Services is now in first place in the nationwide ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge.
For the first time in the shelter’s 60 plus years, Animal Care Services has set a lifesaving record with an overall live release rate of 62% for the fiscal year. The record includes more than 11 thousand animals sent to rescue partners since October 1st of last year as well as 6,087 ACS adoptions.
With less than a month of competition to go, Animal Care Services is now in first place in the nationwide ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. The contest, with a grand prize of $100,000, pits dozens of animal shelters against each other to get more animals adopted or returned to their owners than ever before.
