The mission of the Food and Environmental Health Services Division is to protect, promote, and aid in the development of an environmentally safe and healthy community for the residents of San Antonio and Bexar County. The division strives to ensure that the residents receive the maximum protection in food sanitation and environmental health.
Environmental Health Services staff members license and inspect all city and county public and semi-public swimming pools, all city and county mobile living parks, air pollution sources, and all rendering plants and collection vehicles. When requested, staff members perform cross-connection surveys, investigate smoking ordinance violations in non-food establishments, look into complaints about hotels and motels, and respond to calls from the San Antonio Fire Department for support in an emergency.
