What is the San Antonio Immunization Registry System (SAIRS)?

SAIRS is a secure computerized immunization information system operated by Metro Health since 1980. It contains immunization information that covers the lifespan of a client —infants, adolescents, and adults. It currently contains over 1.3 million client records. Immunization records from 400 area providers (private practices, hospitals, and schools) are provided to SAIRS.

Why use SAIRS?

SAIRS is easy to use! Simply complete an enrollment form and you will receive a user ID and a password. After you get set up, immunization records can be obtained by internet access. From the website you can search for clients and print official immunization records. Listed below are other benefits for you the provider about being a SAIRS participant.

  • Easily identifies children who are not up-to-date.
  • Consolidates vaccination records from multiple providers
  • Generates reminder/recall notices to parents about missing immunizations
  • Information is shared with the Texas State Immunization Registry, ImmTrac thereby enabling providers/schools to retrieve shot records if they move within the State of Texas

How does SAIRS protect privacy and confidentiality?

  • SAIRS users must sign a user confidentiality agreement form
  • Providers are must provide valid log-on ID and a password in order to gain access to SAIRS
  • Information can be restricted based on the user
  • Parental consent is required for a child’s immunization record to be entered into SAIRS/ImmTrac
  • SAIRS fulfills HB 1921 reporting requirements for providers to report immunization records of patients 18 years and under to ImmTrac.
