What is the San Antonio Immunization Registry System (SAIRS)?

SAIRS is a secure computerized immunization information system operated by the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (SAMHD) since 1980. It contains immunization information that covers the lifespan of a client (infants, adolescents, and adults). It currently holds over 1.3 million client records. Some of the benefits of having your child registered in SAIRS include:

  • Web accessible by doctors, daycare centers, schools, and the SAMHD
  • Consolidates immunization records from more than one provider so that your child’s record is up to date
  • Helps remind parents when vaccines are due
  • Tracks information on new vaccines and changes in the immunization schedule
  • SAIRS shares information Texas State Immunization Registry, ImmTrac in case you move to another city within the state of Texas

SAIRS has strict access guidelines for privacy and confidentiality

Parental consent is required for a child’s immunization information to be entered into SAIRS and or ImmTrac and often obtained at birth. Access is granted and restricted to approved medical providers, health care organizations and clinics, daycare facilities, and schools. SAIRS also obtains several layers of security of access to ensure privacy.

Consent can be withdrawn with written consent from parent and or guardian
