Questions?

Project WORTH - FAQs

1. How much does it cost?
Nothing—Project WORTH education programs are free to parents and teens.

2. What is abstinence?
Abstinence means WAITING and not having sex. It means not having vaginal, oral, or anal sex.  Abstinence is the healthiest choice for teens.  If you stick with it, abstinence prevents both pregnancy and STDs.  But abstinence doesn't just happen.  It takes decisions and a plan, and lots of support.  At Project WORTH, we believe abstinence is your best choice --- at least until you are an adult!

3. What are STDs?
STD stands for Sexually Transmitted Disease. These are diseases that you can get from sex or sexual contact. Many people with STDs don’t even know it because they have no symptoms. The most common STDs in young people are:
· Chlamydia, which can cause serious infections if not treated
· Genital Herpes, which can cause blisters
· HPV (Human Papillomavirus), which can cause warts, and even lead to cancer
Other STDs are less common, but still very important. HIV/AIDS can kill you, and there is no cure. To learn more about STDs, click here or visit American Social Health Association.

4. Do you have parenting classes for teen parents or pregnant teens?
Project WORTH does not have parenting classes, but we can help teens find prenatal care, parenting classes, and other services.
