Metro Health serves as the sole public health agency charged with providing public health leadership and programs in San Antonio and the unincorporated areas of Bexar County. The mission of Metro Health is to promote health and prevent disease among the residents and visitors of San Antonio through community health assessment, identification of unmet needs, development of policies to meet those needs, and assurance that needs are met through the development of public-private partnerships and/or direct provision of services. To achieve these goals, Metro Health solicits funding and resources from a variety of entities to include the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state heath agencies, and private foundations and organizations.
