Visiting our clinic? What you should know
Walk-in Service
Patients are seen on a walk-in basis only. To be evaluated you must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 3:30PM and Wednesday 7:30PM).
Before Coming
It is important to have something to eat and drink before coming to the clinic to prevent feeling weak or nauseated during treatments. Bring a current photo ID with you.
Upon Arrival
A current photo ID is required at the time of registration, as we do not test anonymously. All medical records and conversations are kept confidential. Patients take a number or are given a letter as a source of identification within the STD clinic upon arrival. It is important to realize that patients are not called in numerical/alphabetical order. Be assured that as long as you have a number/letter, you will be seen and treated with medication if prescribed by a clinician. Please let the receptionist know if you require a school/work excuse note.
Upon Departure
Patients will be issued a fee sheet for services and a receipt will be provided.
Fees
Fees vary according to services provided. STD charges follow the current Medicaid rate; however, special arrangements will be considered.
Confidentiality
Patients can be assured that all medical records and conversations with STD clinic staff are confidential.
Parking
Parking is available behind the Metro Health administration building, 332 W. Commerce St., for a cash fee. There are several other parking areas around the building as well.
Counselors
If you need to speak to a counselor, call (210) 207-2816. Patients can be reassured that all medical records and conversations with STD clinic staff are confidential. Counselors are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM and Wednesday 8:00AM - 8:00PM.
You also can call (210) 207-8830 or 1-800-CDC-INFO (1-800-232-4636, select option #1) for information regarding STDs or HIV/AIDS.
