WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program

Message to Healthcare Providers

As a health care and social services provider, improving maternal and child health is a goal that you share with the WIC program. You may consult with WIC eligible clients on a daily basis, and a simple referral could result in a tangible improvement in the health of a family and our community. Every dollar spent on pregnant women in WIC produces $2 - $4 in Medicaid savings for newborns and their mothers. WIC recognizes the importance of identifying and reaching the most vulnerable  members of our community who are also more likely to be at risk nutritionally.

WIC serves pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, their infants and children under 5 years of age. Program benefits include:

Nutrition Education
Breastfeeding Support
Food Benefits for Nutritious Foods
Referrals to Health Care and Social Service Agencies

WIC has a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of mothers and their children. Working together with health care and social service professionals, we can reach and teach the most vulnerable in our population with a view to making positive changes that will last a lifetime.
