A property owner, with support from neighboring properties, has submitted an application for historic district designation for a portion of the Westfort Neighborhood Conservation District (NCD-9). Property owners within the proposed district received an initial mailed notification that an application has been submitted. If approved, a historic zoning overlay would replace the NCD-9 zoning overlay for the affected properties.

A public informational meeting was held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. View the presentation.
All property owners in the proposed district were mailed a postcard to indicate either their support or their opposition to the proposed historic district designation. OHP staff has collected the postcards and verified each response by phone. A record of all owner feedback is maintained by OHP throughout the process. Based on verified support received to date, the required 51% threshold of owner support has been met. The proposed district was heard by the HDRC on January 17, 2018. The Commission approved the Finding of Historic Significance and recommended approval of the proposed district to the Zoning Commission and City Council for historic designation. The Zoning Commission heard the case on March 20, 2018, and voted to recommend approval.
UPDATE: The City Council will hear the case for the Westfort Proposed Historic District this spring. As soon as the date is confirmed, we will update this website. All affected property owners will receive a mailed notification with the hearing details. For more information, please contact OHP staff at 210-207-0035.
