SAN ANTONIO (June 7, 2017) — The Department of Human Services, City of San Antonio, is bringing renowned presenters to San Antonio to share information relevant to early childhood education to encourage collaboration and innovation.

The Start Speaker Series is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14, at 6 p.m., at Holy Spirit Hall, Healy Murphy Center, 211 Nolan.

Three featured speakers will present their experiences on “Through the Same Door: Living a Full Inclusive Life in School, Work, College and Community” and the significant role for advocacy of disability rights, inclusion and integration at every educational level.

Teachers and adults can learn from Janice Fialka, LMSW, ACSW, Disability Advocate and Parent; Micah Fialka-Feldman, Disability Activist; and Alexander Cherup, J.D., Disability Rights Advocate.

“It is a story that reminds us of how important it is to intentionally create a world where everyone's gifts are supported, honored and gives others practical suggestions about how to ensure that all people, with and without disabilities, can live meaningful lives,” Micah Fialka-Feldman said.

The presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Mikel Brightman, City of San Antonio Head Start Administrator, at (210) 206-5500.
