Local Hotel Tax Rebate Offered to Evacuees

In an effort to further assist individuals displaced by Hurricane Katrina, the City of San Antonio has initiated a Hotel Tax Rebate program. The City will rebate the local hotel occupancy tax (9%) paid by evacuees that are staying in hotels within the San Antonio city limits for a period of less than 30 days.

Guests eligible for the rebate include those evacuees that lived in Hurricane Katrina affected zip codes including: 365, 366,369-394, 395, 396, 397, 700, 701, and 704 (first three numbers of zip code). The rebate is not available to those that are receiving funds for hotel bills paid by relief groups such as the Red Cross.

Local hotels and motels will provide the rebate form to evacuees still registered at area establishments and forward the form to those that were previously registered. Evacuees are asked to attach a copy of their hotel bill to the rebate form and send it to the City of San Antonio, Attention: HOTEL TAX REBATE PROGRAM, Milo Nitschke, Finance Director, 506 Dolorosa, San Antonio, Texas 78204.
