IT Infrastructure and Information Security - The primary objective of the IT Infrastructure and Information Security initiative is to identify and plan for the implementation of information technology infrastructures and security services that enhance the City’s current ability to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

Enterprise Point-of-Sales – The Point-of-Sales Project (POS) will establish a single system for managing the City’s wide-ranging sales activities. An enterprise POS system will provide a front-end cashiering system for some departments and, for others may serve as middle-ware. The key benefits of this initiative include: improved accountability, reduced errors on front-end, and improved reporting capabilities. /p>

Public Budget Formulation – The Public Budget Formulation initiative will enhance the City’s ability to develop strategic and other performance plans and link the preparation, review, analysis, adoption and reporting of the City’s operating and capital budgets to those plans. The project related to this initiative will implement the SAP Public Budget Formulation (PBF) application. The key benefits of this initiative include: more efficient budgeting by improving budgetary insight, analysis, and monitoring.

e-Procurement– The Purchasing and the Information Technology Services Department have launched an initiative to implement a single, unitary, end to end e-procurement solution across the City. The e-procurement initiative will give the City the ability to the acquire goods and services without the use of a paper processes. The e-procurement solution will deliver a strategic e-government framework along with a highly transparent, streamlined, and integrated purchasing process that will increase efficiencies, spotlight new sources of value, and enhance decision making about suppliers, products, and contracts.

Upgrade of SAPD Fingerprint System – The SAPD Fingerprint System Upgrade initiative’s prime objective is to take advantage of newer technology to increase the speed and accuracy of the positive identification of unknown offenders on criminal adult and juvenile cases. This upgrade will allow for the real time processing of arrest records which will increase records security, reduce the associated cost of supplies, and eliminate the potential of lost fingerprint cards.

Code Compliance Case Management System – This initiative seeks to modernize and enhance the efficiency of code enforcement operations by implementing a new code compliance case management software package that utilizes a web-based system. The benefits of the new case management system include replacing paper complaint and case file documentation with electronic documentation. The electronic documentation will be accessible by all those involved in the process through the City’s existing network and the need for transporting paper documents will be eliminated. The data entry functionality will also be specifically designed for municipal code enforcement.

Enterprise Content Management Continuation – Currently, the City of San Antonio is engaged in an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) initiative and a continuation of this effort has resulted due to numerous requests for expanded functionality. The continuation of the ECM initiative seeks to add the following functions: Integration with the e-Forms project (Adobe LiveCycle), expanded search capabilities beyond the confines of the current product, additional e-mail capabilities, tighter integration with scanning products, and business process automation with workflow.

Library Media Security – The Library Media Security initiative is designed to address the need for additional security for popular disc media items purchased by the San Antonio Public Library. This initiative will establish a project that will install security cases and Disc Media Unlockers from 3M that will minimize the opportunity for theft to occur while items are shelved for browsing by the library patrons. The implementation of this system will require patrons to check out a media disc item onto their personal library accounts before unlocking the case for viewing and listening. The cost of this initiative is less than the replacement costs for the collection and focuses on patron self service.

Web Content Management System – The Web Content Management System initiative will address the current issue is a non-consistent Web presence for the City of San Antonio’s web pages. With a web content management system, Web Masters would easily author web content using an editor that would allow them to view pages as they were created. The web content management system would also provide the standardization and consistency to the numerous Web Master’s of varying skill levels and physical location throughout the City.

Enhancement of SA Immunization Registry System(eSAIRS) – The E-SAIRS initiative will establish a project to implement an immunization registry based on the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR). The scope of the project encompasses changing the WIR base program to reflect the E-SAIRS brand, migrating data from the current system to E-SAIRS, and establishing the initial set up of hosting services and the electronic transfer of data from University Health System’s Sunrise System. E-SAIRS will be an important tool to increase and sustain high vaccination coverage by consolidating vaccination records of children and adults from multiple providers, generating reminder and recall vaccination notices for each child, and providing official vaccination forms and vaccination coverage assessments.

Library Security Cameras –The Library Security Camera initiative is focused on deploying security cameras in key and sensitive areas to deter vandalism and to protect the well being of citizens and city assets. Safety and security is critical to the San Antonio Public Library System’s mission to contribute to the success of our community by becoming a vital center of learning, knowledge, communication, culture and enjoyment for all San Antonians

Electronic Plan and Plat Review –In support of the Planning & Development Services departmental goals, an initiative to establish an electronic means to accept, review, and store plans has begun. Electronic Plan and Plat Review is a recognized nationally as the best business practice to improve cycle time and reduce costs related to plans storage and reproduction. This solution compiles with the current 99 year retention requirement for commercial plans and elevates the current storage constraints.

Human Services Tracking System – ClientTrack –The Human Services Tracking System initiative is designed to implement a web based Human Services data tracking application. The application is needed by the Department of Community Initiative’s Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) and Haven for Hope as a central repository for client assessments, program enrollment, goal tracking, and services to be in compliance with all related regulatory and funding agencies. Track and certify eligibility of clients to receive emergency utility assistance from COSA in agreement with CPS @ SAWS terms, prescription medication assistance, rental assistance, childcare and elderly assistance, and food stamp services.

Learning Management System (LMS) –The primary objective of the Learning Management System (LMS) initiative is to reduce training costs, provide increased training opportunities and availability (24/7), recognize and provide employees with a learning career paths, and meet the training needs of employees that learn better at their own pace. Additionally, this initiative will enhance the City’s ability to administer and manage all training functions to include student administration, class registration, attendance reporting, and the tracking of defined learning objectives through a web portal.

Parks Reservation System: –The City of San Antonio’s Parks & Recreation and Information Technology Services Departments have established an initiative to enhance customer service and provide improved efficiency to its public customers through a web-based software solution for booking city facilities and managing reservations and sports leagues and recreation class registrations. The current system is a custom–built mainframe application for booking reservations and collecting revenue. Sport leagues and recreation classes are created manually, customer self-service is not available, and there are no interactive reporting capabilities available. The key benefits of this initiative include: web-based reservation/registration for customers including on-line payments options, staff efficiencies generated by reducing the time required to assist and process customer reservations/registrations requests and improved reporting and forecasting capabilities.
