The Invention of Hugo Cabret
by Brian Selznick
Juvenile Fiction Selznick
I think this book was very good. I liked how the godfather in the story
doesn't like this kid named Hugo Cabret and he takes Hugo's notebook and
burns it. Hugo keeps coming back and begins working for the old man. The
author uses lots of pictures to help tell the story in a mysterious way.

Secret of the Dragon's Eye
by Derek Hart
Secret of the Dragon's Eye is a really neat book about a dragon named
Thaddeus, who is 1500 years old. He befriends 12-year-old Gavin Kane and his
friends Emily and Bunty. The book takes place in Cornwall, England during
World War Two. I learned a lot about what it was like to be my age during
that war. The book is funny, because the dragon carves sugar all the time.
There is a lot of adventure and Gavin learns how terrible war really is.
There's plenty of action too, with invading Germans and a nasty black dragon
near the end. Even though I've read it 3 times, I love the story. This is
the first book in a series and I can't wait for the next one to come out. It
would make a great movie too, I think. My auntie got this book from amazon
for my birthday, because she knows how much I love dragons!
