Nueva Enciclopedia Cumbre en línea
Need encyclopedia-type information in Spanish? We have a
new online database that will give you that information quickly,
accurately, and you can even access it from home. The Nueva
Enciclopedia Cumbre en línea is based on the print version, but can be
updated more frequently and includes many Internet links. In fact, it is
updated monthly and gets quarterly article revisions using an editorial
program designed to add content specific to the cultures of Latin America.
The Nueva Enciclopedia Cumbre en línea is actually the only online
encyclopedia conceived and developed with the Spanish-speaking peoples of
the Americas as its focus. The encyclopedia also includes over six
thousand photographs.

Teen Services @ Central and Chick-fil-A want to Card You! Get
Carded! in September to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month!
Teens 13 to 18 can present their valid San Antonio Public Library
cards at the Central Library Teen Service desk to receive a coupon
for a free Ice Dream frozen dessert at San Antonio Chick-fil-A
locations. Limit one per person - for teens only - first come, first
served, only at
Central Library, while supplies last! Sunday, September 1.
Buying a Home Computer and Shopping for an ISP. A sign-in sheet is available 1 hour
before each class and classes are limited to 15.
All classes meet at the first
floor elevator (between the gallery and auditorium)
Roll call is conducted 10
minutes before class starts. You must be present.
Students are escorted to the
Training Room. Call 207-2500 if you have any questions. Saturday,

THE LATINO COLLECTION
What
better time to visit the Latino Collection than during Hispanic Heritage
Month (September 15-October 15)! Read about Hispanic history makers such
as César Chávez, Ellen Ochoa, Roberto Clemente and Antonia Novella. Learn
about Latin American rhythms and musical genres. Find out about Latino
holidays, folklore and family traditions. Discover your Hispanic roots!
Located on the sixth
floor of the Central Library, the Latino Collection is a cultural and
educational resource that highlights the diverse literature, heritage, and
contemporary life of Latinos in the United States. The collection consists
primarily of print materials in English written by or about U.S. Latinos.
It includes adult fiction and non-fiction, juvenile fiction and
non-fiction and reference books. In addition you will find some
specialized journals such as Aztlán, El Grito, and the Américas Review.
The Latino Collection is
a reference collection; however, under special circumstances, books may be
checked out to library customers for one-week periods. In addition, copies
of many of the books in the Latino Collection are available in the
library’s circulating collections. If you are interested in checking out a
book from the Latino Collection, please check the online catalog or ask a
library staff member to find out about the availability of a circulating
copy elsewhere in the San Antonio Public Library system.
