AUGUST 2003San Antonio Public Library - Celebrating 100 Years 1903-2003

IT'S JUST MOOVELOUS

"17 Moovelous Young Voices," created by the students of the Thomas Jefferson High School Fine Arts ProgramSan Antonio Public Library now has a cow of its very own – one of the original cow parade cows! Titled "17 Moovelous Young Voices" the Young Voices cow was created by the students of the Students of the Thomas Jefferson High School Fine Arts ProgramThomas Jefferson High School Fine Arts Program and given to the library by a group of anonymous donors. Each of the 17 Jefferson High School students who worked on the art piece is represented through the handmade tiles on the body of the cow.

Hosted by the Central Library’s Teen Services Department, last month’s dedication ceremony helped symbolize the library system’s commitment to San Antonio’s youth as well as its pledge to support public art and visual literacy.

The "Young Voices" cow will be on permanent display in the Central Library's lobby. Check it out.

NEW LIBRARY CARDS!

Limited edition Library Centennial cardContinue celebrating the library’s centennial year by getting a new and unique limited edition library card. The centennial library card is gold, and unlike the previous purple and blue cards, it has a detachable key card. The new library cards have a small portion that breaks off the main card with a small hole to conveniently attach to your key ring. This smaller card also has the bar code and your library number on the back, so it acts just like your regular library card, but is easier to carry around!Limited edition Library Centennial key attachment

Remember if you lose the key card, it is just like losing your regular library card, and you will want to report the loss to the library. Your first library card is free, and you will need a picture ID and proof of local address. If you already have a library card and wish to get a new one the replacement cards are only $2.00 each. Get them before they are gone!
