BLOGS
Web
blogs or Blogs are more popular than ever, and may possibly be
changing the way people communicate as email once did.
Blogs are
transforming journalism, affecting politics, and reshaping the web
by giving a voice to thousands all over the world.
What is a blog?
A blog is simply a website that allows the owner or creator to post
information, thoughts, rants, links and photos. A blog can be
personal, like a diary, and provide space to post personal thoughts
to share with a few friends. Or create your blog with bigger
audiences in mind, and share your voice with the rest of the world.
Your blog can be whatever you want it to be. Whatever your passion
is, post it! What you post will appear on the top of the website so
your visitors can see what is new. You don’t even need to know how
to create a web page, or own a computer to create your own blog.
Several companies will allow you to set up an account and start
posting right away to your blog. Check out
www.blogger.com,
www.blog-city.com, or
www.diaryland.com to name a
few blog sites that allow anyone to set up a blog for free. Its easy
and fun, so make your voice heard and start blogging today.

JUST FOR THE
ART OF IT!
An
Art Exhibit by San Antonio Public Library Staff
We all know San Antonio Public Library staff are good at their jobs,
but who knew we had so many talented artists? Join us Sunday,
December 12, from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. in the Central Library Gallery,
for the grand opening of our first-ever staff art exhibit.
This gallery showing is designed to celebrate the artistic talents
of those working within the San Antonio Public Library System. From
a candid vacation photograph of children beating the heat to the
delicate intricacies of fine metalwork, the items are as diverse and
distinct as the individuals who created them. SAPL staff includes
many professional artists who place their works in the glare of
commercial scrutiny and there are many more who use their abilities
to enhance the homes and lives of their family and friends. This
showing brings together both the expert and the amateur in a
celebration of expression - Just for the Art of It.
Free and open to the public.

MASTERPIECE
THEATRe book club
Pollyanna
by Eleanor H. Porter
Published in 1913.
Book discussion date: Sunday, December 12, 2:30 - 4:00 p.m., San
Antonio Central Library, 600 Soledad, in the 3rd floor Children's
Library Meeting Room. This discussion will be moderated by Monica
Alaniz.
Pollyanna's eternal optimism has made her one of the most beloved
characters in American literature. First published in 1913,
Pollyanna is the children's classic about an orphan who enlivens her
aunt's gloomy village and teaches grown-ups how to look on the
bright side. Spawning the formation of "Glad" clubs all over the
United States, Pollyanna has since been translated into dozens of
languages around the world.
"Pollyanna" airs Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 on KLRN.
