News Release & Photo Opportunity: March 3, 2005 What: Unity Quilt created by children of San Antonio for Black
History Month During February, in observance of Black History Month, children at all 21 San Antonio Public Library locations designed and created paper quilt squares. Now nearly 400 colorful squares, made by children from all over the city, have been joined together to create one giant quilt measuring almost 170 square feet. “The squares express the interests, enthusiasms, and imagination of the children who made them,” said Jacquelyn Caverly, Central Library Children’s Services Manager. “Kids have been coming in from all over San Antonio to see their quilt on display.” The quilt will hang in the Children’s Department at the Central Library, 600 Soledad, 3rd Floor, through March 31. The Central Library is open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. One hour of free parking is available in the Central Library parking garage with a validated ticket. For more information, the public may call (210) 207-2500. Posted/Updated: 03/07/2005 |
