"EMERGENCE" A Retrospective of Artwork from Clif Tinker

The San Antonio Public Library proudly presents “Emergence,” an exhibit by Clif Tinker, at the Central Library Gallery, 600 Soledad Street. The show, which is free and open to the public, will run Tuesday, August 2, through Monday, August 22.

“Emergence” is a retrospective of works created by Clif Tinker from 1989 to 2005. Among this collection will be the official poster for the San Antonio Public Library Centennial Celebration in 2003, and the San Antonio Spurs Then and Now poster that was created and produced by Tinker exclusively for 2003-2004 Spurs season ticker holders. His fabric banner called “The Transition Game”, was also designed for the San Antonio Spurs and hung in the Alamodome. At a little over 80,000 square feet, the banner is the largest work of art in Texas, thus giving Clif his own historical place with the Spurs.

Artist Clif Tinker has crisscrossed the US during his lifetime. He was born in Virginia, graduated from high school in California, and received his BA from the University of Houston. He subsequently studied fine arts at the University of Texas in San Antonio, receiving both a BFA in painting and a MA in art history. Not only a working artist, Tinker is also an educator, beginning his local teaching career at the San Antonio Art Institute, and currently working at James Madison High School in San Antonio.
