Award-winning author Amada Irma Pérez, creator of My Very Own Room and My Diary from Here to There, introduces her newest bilingual picture-book, Nana’s Big Surprise/Nana: Que Sorpresa!, to the children of San Antonio This heart-warming and surprisingly funny tale of intergenerational love and remembrance can be enjoyed by the whole family. Please join us at the Central Library, 600 Soledad, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, as Ms. Pérez shares her experiences as a writer, provides insights into the creative process, and reads from her new book. Amada Irma Pérez has been a bilingual educator, consultant and presenter for more than twenty-five years. Her teaching experience includes kindergarten through university. She is an advocate of programs that encourage literacy and multicultural understanding. She has been honored with numerous awards, including the 2004 Pura Belpré Honor Book Award, the 2000 Tomás Rivera Children’s Book Award, the Americas Award for Children’s Literature, the Parents’ Guide to Children’s Media Award, the Independent Publishers Book Award and the Skipping Stones Honor Book Award.
